Audio Troubleshooting

Audio Troubleshooting

If others can't hear you during a video call, this is usually due to microphone settings, permissions, or hardware issues. Follow these steps to resolve audio problems.

Please select your operating system or browser for specific instructions:

1. Check for Connection Errors:
  • If you're experiencing call connection errors (NotReadableError, NotAllowedError, etc.)
  • First visit our main help page to fix those issues
  • Audio problems often stem from the same underlying connection issues
2. Check Browser Permissions:
  • Look for a microphone icon in your browser's address bar
  • If blocked or no permissions granted, follow our permission guide
  • Refresh the page after granting permissions
3. Open Kedyou Settings Menu:
  • Click the settings icon in the bottom right of the video call interface
  • This will open the audio/video settings panel
4. Verify Microphone Selection:
  • In the settings menu, check the microphone list
  • Ensure the correct microphone device is selected
  • If you have multiple microphones, try switching between them
  • Test built-in microphone vs external microphone if available
5. Adjust Microphone Sensitivity:
  • Find the Microphone Sensitivity slider in settings
  • Drag the slider down to 0 (most sensitive setting)
  • This reduces the threshold needed to activate your microphone
6. Test Microphone Input:
  • Speak normally while watching the microphone indicator, you should see the bar move as your mic detects input
  • Green bar = transmitting audio
  • Grey indicator = muted or input below threshold sensitivity
  • If no movement appears, there is no autio being detected, continue to next steps
7. Check Device Mute Status:
  • Ensure you're not muted in the Kedyou interface
  • Check if your microphone has a physical mute button or switch
  • For headsets, verify the mute switch on the cable/headset
  • Some keyboards have microphone mute keys - check those too
8. Verify Operating System Settings:
  • Windows: Settings → Privacy → Microphone → Allow apps to access microphone
  • macOS: System Preferences → Security & Privacy → Privacy → Microphone
  • Linux: Check PulseAudio/ALSA settings and permissions
  • Ensure your browser is listed and enabled
9. Check Security Software:
  • Allow microphone access in any antivirus programs
  • Check firewall settings for microphone/browser access
  • Some security software blocks microphone access by default
  • Add your browser to the allowed applications list
Still No Audio?
  • Try a different browser (Chrome is recommended)
  • Test your microphone in another application
  • Restart your browser completely
  • Check if Windows/macOS updates are available
  • Try using a different microphone or headset
  • Contact support if the issue persists
